We’re looking for a dynamic Web Developer to help us build and deploy our websites and services.
About the role
This is a mid-weight role, so we would expect you to have a few years experience working as a full stack developer. What we mean by full stack, is that you are comfortable in using the required technologies to build a PHP CMS website or WebApp independently, you are comfortable working on front-end or back-end tasks and you are keen to develop skills in both (the general split of duties is around 70/30).
You’ll be working on a variety of creative projects for both our clients and internally, so you will need some competent skills in HTML, SCSS, PHP and JS. An eye for what is aesthetically pleasing is essential, as we work collaboratively with the digital designers when creating UI/UX.
Other skills we hope you posses include things like Responsive builds, BEM/OOCSS, DRY code, A11y and an opinion on UX/UI best practices. We use ConcreteCMS and Laravel so an understanding of PHP and/or common PHP CMS' is key.
We’re an Employer Branding and Marketing agency based in London, Bristol, and New York. We work with an impressive list of clients including well-known brands such as McDonald’s, The Guardian, B&Q and EE. Complex clients that trust us to understand their needs, their sectors and their situations and to come up with creative digital solutions that really work. And that’s where you come in.
What’s in it for you?
Most of our careers websites are powered by our very own super smart tech called Mercury. It's an API at heart and is a core part of what we do. You'll get to work on delivering sites that leverage its features and functionality.
We are a team that embraces DevOps. What this means for you, is that we will teach and mentor you in aspects of development and operations that you may not have been responsible for previously, or even considered for the future – such as performance and uptime monitoring, server configuration, deployments and automation – all the things that we need to maintain, in order to deliver and host the sites and apps that you will build. Rest assured that we don’t look for expertise in all the technologies mentioned above.
We offer a range of benefits, including a SOHO House friends membership for employees.
It should go without saying, but we'll say it anyway; we celebrate inclusivity and diversity and want more of it. We hope you’ll be a part of that.
If you think this sounds like somewhere you could really shine, please send your CV and covering email telling us why. Please include some URLs to projects you've worked on (clearly stating your involvement) or any public code you may have on Github or similar.
